Matt and Gavin compared our lives to a video game, except that we all eventually lose. The good news is that Jesus won the game for us, so that we could experience a new life with Him. That’s what we’re going to talk about right now.

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
• QUESTIONS (after hearing their response, SAY ANSWERS in parentheses):
o How would you define “sin”? (Basically: It’s doing the wrong thing – rebelling against God.)
o What do you think the “wages of sin” means? (Think of a worker getting a wage or payment for their work. Our sin has consequences or payment back to us.)
o Why is sin such a big deal? (“the wages of sin is death” – which means the consequences or payment of our sin, sadly, is separation from God that leads to death.)
o Why do we need Jesus to save us? (Our sin creates a debt – or something we owe — to God. Jesus is the ONLY ONE to live a life WITHOUT SIN. By dying for our sin, He erased our debt! AND by coming back to life, He defeated death and OFFERS US A NEW LIFE that lasts forever.)
o What do we owe Jesus for saving us? (Nothing! It’s a GIFT that WE can RECEIVE.)

o How do we become God’s kids according to this passage? (vs.26 – “through faith”)
o What does “faith” mean? (Faith means trust, believe, or rely on something or someone.)
o Who is someone in your life that you already have faith in? (Maybe a parent or friend, etc.)
o To become God’s kid, Who do we put our ultimate faith in? (JESUS)
o What action shows our faith in Jesus and our commitment to follow Him? (Baptism)
o What does this act represent? (1. We go under the water – embracing the DEATH of Jesus, dying to our old way of living, and 2. We come up out of the water – embracing the LIFE of Jesus that has raised from the dead, so we can live a new kind of life through Him!)

1 Timothy 6:12 – “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

o Do you think this passage is talking about a physical fight or spiritual fight? Why? (It’s talking about a SPIRITUAL FIGHT – because continuing to trust Jesus throughout your whole life will not always be easy, even though it will be worth it!)
o What does “take hold of” mean? (Ultimately, it means “be Player 2” and “follow Player 1” – always look for the next step you can take in your life as you follow Jesus.)
o What does “your good confession” mean? (The first time you spoke up and confessed your need for Jesus and that you wanted to follow him with your whole life.)
o This passage talks about “the presence of many witnesses”. What does that mean? (These “witnesses” are other followers of Jesus, who are already a part of God’s family – which is also called the Church. Basically, a follower of Jesus is NEVER ALONE. If you decide to follow Jesus, Jesus and His Family, the Church, will always have your back.)
